I was a graduate student at UCR when I decided to look for that special someone to help complete my life. I visited several animal shelters over a period of several months but didn?t find the connection I was looking for. On a visit to the Moreno Valley Animal Shelter I saw a little black dog asleep in the back of a cage. All the other dogs barked at me but her. When we finally met she ran up to me, gave me a big kiss and rolled over to have her belly scratched. She was perfect. I named her Kokoro, which is Japanese for heart. That was a little over a year ago. We are almost inseparable. She goes almost everywhere with me: work, school, Texas. She loves to visit with people and other dogs whenever she can. One of her favorite pastimes is looking out the window while I am driving. She has to see everything. Her favorite toys are a plastic Tupperware container and a little stuffed kangaroo she stole from my nephew. She also loves trying to get all the liver paste out of her Kong. Finding Koko has been the best thing that has happened to me in a long time. I am looking forward to many more years with my new best friend.
